CCIS - expansion in Spain

April 21, 2023

CCIS has recently finalized a joint venture in Spain – Puerto Seco Azuqueca, closely located to Madrid and allows CCIS to expand its footprint after the acquisition of train operator Continental Rail in 2021.

The expansion of the CCIS network represents a strategically important step – Spain is gaining more and more logistical importance. By acquiring shares in this terminal, we can offer our customers a wider range of services.

We can also share knowledge by drawing on a deep pool of expertise.

Puerto Seco Azuqueca is a logistics centre of the highest importance for current and future container trade. The terminal offers a rail connection to and from the most important Spanish ports.

In 2022, a total of 109,424 TEU were transported by rail – a new historical record.

Puerto Seco Azuqueca will benefit from a broad network of shipowners, rail operators, shippers and forwarders through cooperation with the CMA CGM Group.

Together, this will create high logistical added value – both for the terminal itself and for the corresponding customers.
